The only difference in execution between a 2k and a 5k time trial is duration. Your approach will be the same. Either:
1. Start out fast (below target pace), slow up through the middle (above target pace), build speed into the finish;
2. Start conservatively (above target pace) and gradually build speed as you go.
Which method to choose all depends on your preference and how you typically perform during training sessions. If you have been following the program for the past several weeks, we have done a lot of repeat intervals on minimal rests all paced relative to 5k target so you should have a decent idea of what average split you think you can manage and what stroke rates you feel confident in sticking to.
